Introducing Our Practice Team
Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in pet healthcare. Our veterinary team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification through continuing professional education and postgraduate study. From preventative medicine, health advice or herbal consultations to emergency treatment and orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery, we care for your pets at every stage.
Among our vets we have a wide range of specialisms and interests for example holistic medicine, cardiology, internal medicine and surgery.
Our RVN - Emily Wallace is now an SQP meaning she is qualified to independently prescribe and dispense a range of medicines for you pet!
In 2014, Emily successfully completed and passed her post graduate certificate in Emergency and Critical Care!
2016 - Robyn McGhee RVN has become our second qualified clinical coach.

Qualified from Edinburgh University (Royal Dick Veterinary College) in 1981 and established the practice along with Colin in 1984. Robert has a lively little toy poodle called Penne. He is one of the few fully certified veterinary acupuncturists in the country and a member of the ABVA. He has a special interest in Complementary Medicine accepting referrals from around Scotland. Robert believes in integrating the best of modern veterinary medicine with acupuncture and herbal medicine. In 2012, both Robert and his son were nominated for Vet of the Year in the national awards!

Also qualified from Edinburgh University (Royal Dick Veterinary College) in 1981. Colin has 2 Burmese cats, a Korat (funny cat breed, v.noisy!) and 2 Border Terriers who think they are Burmese. Interested in most areas of small animal practice and ultrasonography and recently completed a 2 year course in internal medicine.

Robert also qualified with distinction from Edinburgh University (Royal Dick Veterinary College). He returned home to work full time at Ashbank in 2010 after working in a mixed practice in Morayshire and in 2013 became the newest partner at Ashbank Vets!. He has developed a keen interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. Robert has also been nominated for the prestigious Vet of the Year award 4 out of the last 5 years! In 2017, Robert was appointed duty vet at the Scottish Cat Show and the West of Scotland Cat Show. He is a member of the BVA, BSAVA and AVSTS. Robert has 2 dogs - Sophie and Dexter and 4 cats (Horatio, Aurora, Alfred and Nero) as well as a flock of Hebridean and Shetland Sheep and several chickens and ducks!

Jake qualified from Edinburgh in 2017 and joined our team in July this year. He has always had a keen interest in exotic pets which he is putting to good use within the practice and is looking forward to meeting you all.

Emily has been with us since her work experience days at school. She joined us full time in 2007 as a veterinary nurse and has risen to be the Head Nurse at Ashbank! Emily has recently passed her post-graduate certificate in Emergency and Critical Care! Emily has lots of pets including two dogs called Sophie and Dexter, a leopard gecko called Cedric, 10 chickens, a turkey, a horse called Millie and two donkeys called Poppy and Thistle.
Emily is also in charge of training the new nurses at Ashbank and has been included in the nominees for Vet Nurse of the Year for each of the last 4 years! Emily is also a qualified SQP which means she is able to prescribe and dispense certain medicines for your pet independently of the vet. Emily works in our Laurieston branch almost all the time and is in charge of making sure all your pets are comfortable and looked after while in the surgery. Emily is currently on maternity leave but will return soon!

Robyn will be a familiar face to many of our clients having been a regular visitor and student at the practice for years! Robyn qualified as an RVN in 2016 from Edinburgh's Napier University and later in the year, she qualified as a clinical coach. Robyn has a particular interest in dog and cat behaviour as well as avian nursing. She has 6 birds, 2 tortoises and 5 cats including a lovely Ragdoll called Edgar.

Ashleigh started working at Ashbank in 2015 after doing a large amount of her university placement at the practice. Ashleigh has a cocker spaniel called Harvey and a rabbit called Lily. She qualified as an RVN from Edinburgh's Napier University in 2016 and has since undertaken further training in clinical pathology which is being put to work in the practice's inhouse laboratory. Ashleigh enjoys all aspects of inpatient care especially cuddles!

Hayley joined us in 2014 as a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) student and has loved it so much that after qualifying as a VCA she has accepted a job as a student vet nurse with us and is on course to qualify later this year! She is mainly to found at Laurieston but as a born and bred Bo'ness girl she will often greet you with a cheery smile at our Bo'ness branch in the evenings too. Hayley has a little Pug called Heidi who loves cartoons!
- Gillian Mackintosh
Gillian joined Ashbank in 2000 as our evening receptionist for Laurieston. She has 2 whippets called Susan and Peaches who enjoy chasing squirrels with their ears flapping!
- Louisa Weasenham
Louisa joined us in Spring 2012 as an evening receptionist for our Bo'ness and Kilsyth surgeries and is now our daytime receptionist at Laurieston as well as some evenings at the branch surgeries. Louisa has three lively cats at home.

Meghan is our veterinary care assistant helping the nurses care for our patients and helping out at reception too. Meghan trained as a Veterinary Care Assistant with Ashbank and College of Animal Welfare and is now a student Vet Nurse in her first year of training.
- Lisa Kane
Lisa is the newest member of the Ashbank team and works as a receptionist in the evenings at our Kilsyth and Bo'ness branches. Lisa has just returned from maternity leave.

Professor Simpson is our visiting internal medicine specialist. He is an RCVS recognised specialist in Small Animal Medicine and Professor of Canine Medicine at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College. We are very pleased to be able to offer his services at our Laurieston centre - this enables our clients to access the highest level of specialist expertise without having to travel to a distant referral centre. He also provides our endoscopy service at our Laurieston centre.

Chris is our visiting cardiologist and ultrasonographer who undertakes investigation of more complex cardiovascular cases and performs indepth ultrasound examinations within the practice at Laurieston. Chris is a recognised advanced practitioner in Emergency and Critical care and Cardiology.
- Student Nurses
At Ashbank Veterinary Centre we are very involved with teaching student veterinary nurses (mostly from Edinburgh's Telford College). Student nurses are supervised at all times and help our nurses with the care of our patients. Emily Wallace RVN and Robyn McGhee RVN are responsible for teaching the student nurses at Ashbank.
