Introducing Our Practice Team
Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in pet healthcare. Our veterinary team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification through continuing professional education and postgraduate study. From preventative medicine, health advice or herbal consultations to emergency treatment and orthopaedic or soft tissue surgery, we care for your pets at every stage.
Among our vets we have a wide range of interests for example cardiology, surgery and exotic pets. We also have a visiting specialist in internal medicine.

Robert qualified with distinction from Edinburgh University (Royal Dick Veterinary College). After a period of mixed practice work in Morayshire, Robert has been at Ashbank since 2010 and in 2018 took over the practice with his wife Emily. He has developed a special interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. Robert has also been nominated for the prestigious Vet of the Year award 4 out of the last 5 years and serves as duty vet at the Scottish Cat Show and the West of Scotland Cat Show. He is also the duty vet at the Scotia cat show this year. Robert has a cocker spaniel called Sophie, a cockapoo called Riley and 4 cats (Horatio, Aurora, Alfred and Nero).

Chalotte graduated from Nottingham University and moved to Scotland to pursue her hobbies of hillwalking and wild swimming. She plans to spend her free weekends exploring the mountains and lochs of the highlands.
She has a sweet Border Collie called Bonnie who loves cats!
Charlotte has a general interest in all areas of small animal general practice in particular surgery and diagnostic imaging.

Louise qualified from Edinburgh University in 2012 and worked in a mixed practice in the west of Scotland for 6 years. She is very excited to join the Ashbank team in December.

Emily has been with us since her work experience days at school. She joined us full time in 2007 as a veterinary nurse and has risen to be the Head Nurse at Ashbank! Emily has recently passed her post-graduate certificate in Emergency and Critical Care! Emily has lots of pets a spaniel called Sophie, a cockapoo called Riley, 10 chickens, a horse called Millie and two donkeys called Poppy and Thistle.
Emily is also in charge of training the new nurses at Ashbank and has been included in the nominees for Vet Nurse of the Year for each of the last 4 years! Emily is also a qualified SQP which means she is able to prescribe and dispense certain medicines for your pet independently of the vet. Emily works in our Laurieston branch almost all the time and is in charge of making sure all your pets are comfortable and looked after while in the surgery.

Ashleigh started working at Ashbank in 2015 after doing a large amount of her university placement at the practice. Ashleigh has a rabbit called Lily. She qualified as an RVN from Edinburgh's Napier University in 2016 and has since undertaken further training in clinical pathology which is being put to work in the practice's inhouse laboratory. Ashleigh enjoys all aspects of inpatient care especially cuddles!

Jodie trained as a Vet Nurse at Barony College and has spent time working at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Vet schools. Jodie joined the Ashbank team in 2018.
- Mhairi MacLeod

Mhairi joined the Ashbank team in 2018 as a nursing assistant and receptionist before enrolling as a student vet nurse with the College of Animal Welfare in Edinburgh.
- Gillian Mackintosh
Gillian joined Ashbank in 2000 as our evening receptionist for Laurieston. She has 2 whippets called Susan and Peaches who enjoy chasing squirrels with their ears flapping!
- Louisa Weasenham
Louisa joined us in Spring 2012 as an evening receptionist for our Bo'ness and Kilsyth surgeries and is now our daytime receptionist at Laurieston. Louisa has three lively cats at home.

Kirsten helps out with reception work and assists our vet nurses care for our patients. She is currently training as an Animal Care Assistant.

Susan brings with her a wealth of previous animal care experience to Ashbank. Susan works evenings as a receptionist at our Kilsyth and Bo'ness centres.

Professor Simpson is our visiting internal medicine specialist. He is an RCVS recognised specialist in Small Animal Medicine and Professor of Canine Medicine at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College. We are very pleased to be able to offer his services at our Laurieston centre - this enables our clients to access the highest level of specialist expertise without having to travel to a distant referral centre. He also provides our endoscopy service at our Laurieston centre.

Chris is our visiting cardiologist and ultrasonographer who undertakes investigation of more complex cardiovascular cases and performs indepth ultrasound examinations within the practice at Laurieston. Chris is a recognised advanced practitioner in Emergency and Critical care and Cardiology.
- Student Nurses
At Ashbank Vet Centre we are very involved with teaching student veterinary nurses (mostly from Edinburgh's College of Animal Welfare). All three of our centres are accredited as Training Practices (TPs) with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Student nurses are supervised at all times and help our nurses with the care of our patients. Emily Wallace RVN is responsible for teaching the student nurses at Ashbank.
